Chapter 2:
Anne stood with her head pressed against the window as she looked at the city beneath her feet. The people who lined the sidewalk looked as if they were bustling about aimlessly. Anne watched in search of something, but she didn't know what that something was. She turned over the idea that every person below had individual lives, thoughts and stories, and what she was seeing was just a small clipping of these people's lives.
Anne's eyes drifted from person to person, many of whom she had seen before going about their routines on a daily basis. Her eyes lingered over a man in a suit holding a briefcase; she had seen him before,
